Installing Debian on dreambox

Mac on Linux

Hi Finik,

after installing Debian on the Dreambox, I suggest a nice addition :
Mac on Linux, which you can find at www.maconlinux.net
As this is a software targeted to Linux on PowerPC, even available as a Debian package or as sources, coming adapted to various kernels, it should be able to compile on the Dreambox.
This would enable the installation of Mac OS on the Dreambox and make it a real productivity workstation. As Mac OS is freeware up to version 7.5, which can be downloaded freely from Apple Computer, there would not even be legal issues.

Would you like to try this ? Maybe it can be made a package similar to DreamX, the XFree86 for the Dreambox.

Greetings,
Bernhard

This is interesting page

I will have a look, quite interesting ...

HOW do I install Debian on Dreambox ???

Hi Finik,

you describe how to install Enigma on a Dreambox that already has Debian installed. But you don't describe how to install Debian itself.

Can you please give a step-by-step explanation what to do if one has a) a Dreambox and b) a complete set of Debian-PPC CD's ?

How do I get Debain onto the Dreambox ?
Do I only have to copy the first CD on the HD and then "boot into that directory" ??? How is that done ?
Where do I give the bootparams ? Using a serial line on COM1 ???

And, if I have installed everything like you did, am I able afterwards to use EMU images like ruDream, SF, etc ?

Greetings,
Bernhard
